New Directions has partnered with the Turnkey Construction Management Institute to offer a 16-week vocational training course in construction estimating and project management.  Classes are held at New Directions' Regional Opportunity Center on the VA campus.

The multifaceted curriculum includes instruction in producing cost estimates, obtaining material lists, and reading commercial and residential blueprints.  Students learn to use the latest construction software, such as Timberline Precision Estimating and SureTrak Project Manager. Graduates of the program are job ready, and qualified to schedule all aspects of a construction project, from groundbreaking through the final walk-through.

As the Turnkey program enters its second year, a growing number of New Directions clients are gaining the lucrative skills that can earn them as much as $65,000 per year in Southern California's ever-expanding construction industry.

Another round of New Directions residents is scheduled to begin classes this fall. Course costs for the session are being funded by the Marina Del Rey Worksource Center.
