Vocational Program Manager
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Employment Coordinator, Employment Specialist II, Employment Specialist I, Outside training vendors
Summary:
Provides strategic planning, implementation and oversight for the New Directions Vocational Program to ensure that ND residents are receiving optimal services in job training, placement and retention (aftercare). Participates as part of the supervisory team and works closely with contract instructors, Program staff and employment specialists to provide services; should be knowledgeable about the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and be able to maintain relationships with funders.
Job Duties
- Develops training programs to prepare ND residents for careers in high growth vocations
- Works closely with Development department to identify additional sources of revenue to support increased services
- Develops and implements strategies to increase pool of potential employers
- Develops and implements customer service and life skills training for ND residents
- Ensures that all grant reports are timely and accurate
- Ensures that all client files are complete and in compliance with grant requirements
- Oversees all internal and external training resources to ensure timely delivery and quality of service
- Works with Vocational team to meet all stated goals and objectives
- Develops an annual budget for the department and monitors spending.
Requirements
- BA degree
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with WIA or VWIP grants
- Experience creating employment opportunities for diverse clients with various barriers
- Supervisory experience
