Volunteer Coordinator
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time non-exempt Volunteer Coordinator for our organization. NDI seeks an outgoing, high-energy candidate with a positive “can do” attitude to manage our Volunteer Program. This individual should care deeply about our mission, love working with people, and be able to bring out the best in others. If you love a challenge and are a leader in your own right, this is the job for you! Candidate will also assist the Development Team in fundraising and marketing. Candidate must be able to take direction but also be creative and take initiative. This person will report directly to our Director of Development. We are looking for an energetic and outgoing individual to be a part of our team. The position includes the following responsibilities:
Volunteer Duties:
· Establish the agency’s new volunteer program under the direction of the Development/Marketing Director with assistance from the Associate Director.
· Work with staff members to develop appropriate volunteer opportunities throughout agency.
· Recruit, train, coordinate, and retain volunteers for year-round programs, projects, and events.
· Communicate with volunteers on a daily basis regarding program and any questions/issues they may encounter.
· Schedule trainings and organize volunteer appreciation events.
· Maintain records and database information on each volunteer.
· Fill monthly volunteer assignment list from existing volunteer base.
· Print and mail regular volunteer communications.
· Respond to all inside and outside agency emails, phone calls, and mailings in a prompt and professional manner.
· Assist with organizational events as needed.
· Additional volunteer/program/development duties to be assigned on an as needed basis.
Development Duties:
· Assist the Development Team in various projects, small and large.
· Assist in fundraising and solicitations for auctions.
· Provide grant research and Internet research assistance.
· Assist in annual golf tournament coordination and staffing.
· Assist in media relations, e-marketing, etc.
Job Requirements:
· Nonprofit volunteer experience.
· At least 1 year experience of supervising or managing people (volunteers preferred, but not required).
· Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite, managing databases, and Internet research.
· College degree or at least 3 years of equivalent related experience
· Knowledge of 12-Step recovery a plus!
· Excellent time management and organization skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Extremely detail oriented, meticulous record keeping skills
· Resourceful and creative
· Ability to meet deadlines
· Professional, reliable, and responsible
· Comfortable repeatedly asking for agency assistance; able to take rejection
· Comfortable speaking in front of groups
· Have own transportation; Valid CA Drivers’ License with a clean printout
