CLINICIAN
New Directions is seeking a dynamic and compassionate clinician. The clinician will work with participants to address the clinical needs of our population with a focus on substance abuse treatment.
Job Duties
- Assists program manager, case managers, and service coordinators to address clinical issues which lie beyond the scope of practice of peer counselors.
- Assists in screening new clients coming into the program.
- Provides case consultation with program staff regarding supplemental treatment plans.
- Acts as a liaison to other service providers, making referrals where appropriate and coordinating with other referral sources.
- Provides crisis intervention.
- Provides individual psychotherapy.
- Facilitates specialized groups such as family reunification group, psychotherapy group, trauma recovery group, self-esteem group, and others.
- Documents clinical notes in client charts for compliance with required procedures.
- Prepares for inspections and liaisons with government agencies during monitoring visits.
- Provides supervision to certificate level interns and possibly masters or doctorate level interns.
- Should be available to work 8 hours a day between the hours of 9am and 8pm.
- Will be required to work some hours on the weekend.
Job Requirements
- Skilled in working with a diverse population, especially those with co-occurring disorders
- Experience with mental health services
- Must be knowledgeable with substance abuse issues, therapeutic interventions, and treatment planning, particularly as relevant to therapeutic communities
- Must have a firm understanding of the 12 steps of Alcoholic Anonymous or other fellowships
- Experience and knowledge in working with trauma victims and clients with PTSD
- Veterans preferred
Education
- Masters level training in social work, psychology/counseling, or family therapy
- Licensed required for at least 2 years (LCSW, LMFT or PHD)
