COOK

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time non-exempt Cook for our organization. Under direct supervision of the Food Service Manager the cook will assist in the preparation and serving of food in the dining room and maintain food service facilities and equipment in a sanitary condition. The cook will perform other job related duties as required, such as cleaning the kitchen and kitchen equipment, and prepping food for next day’s service.  He/she will be responsible for daily pick-ups and returning donations made to New Directions. He/she also will assist in separation and distribution of donated items and bagging items for distribution to sister sites.

 

Job Duties:

  • Prepare vegetables, fruits, salads, and foods for cooking.
  • Slice and prepare bread for meal service.  May make sandwiches, desserts and beverages for special functions.
  • May wash pots, pans, dishes and utensils.
  • May clean work area, equipment, teaching kitchen and dispose of refuse.
  • Assist other cooks as directed
  • Label, date and store all food properly
  • Assist the Food Service Manager in all catering projects
  • Pick up donations in a timely manner and promptly return to designated locations(s)

 

Job Requirements:

    • Experience in quantity food preparation and kitchen maintenance is preferable, but any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform duties and responsibilities will be considered.
    • Possession of a current CA Class “C” Driver License
    • Flexible schedule required
    • Some weekend work may be required
