RESIDENT MANAGER

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a non-exempt Resident Manager. The qualified individual will work directly with participants on a daily basis to maintain the house and ensure that program standards are being met.  Demonstrates the qualities and behaviors that are key to successful recovery from substance abuse and homelessness.  The Resident Manager is responsible for maintaining integrity at all times.  All duties will be performed in a courteous manner, allowing participants and staff to maintain a healthy sense of self-worth while maintaining a safe and sober environment.

Job Duties:

  • Assist management in the overall supervision and administration of daily operations in the detoxification, treatment and rehabilitation in order to develop satisfying solutions for our participants.
  • General monitoring of participants to ensure that a safe, quiet and friendly atmosphere is maintained and that house rules are complied with, that duties and directives are carried out on time and according to professional standards, and that the facility is kept clean and orderly at all times.
  • Provide information for problem solving involving daily operations giving specific attention to house job assignments, transportation, participant appointments, telephone answering, treatment functions and rehabilitation coordination.
  • Coordinate with management regarding arrangements for participants and follow up on assignments
  • Coordinate with management and participants in the keeping of records, other necessary paperwork and important communication
  • Provide appropriate involvement in coordination with other staff and participants so that health, safety and security measures are adhered to.
  • Advise participants as to their attitude, dress, vocabulary, behavior and related areas that affect success in recovery from substance abuse and homelessness
  • Communicate with program management, co-workers and participants regarding policies, procedures and special circumstances.
  • Assist staff as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate levels of treatment.
  • When assigned, facilitate recovery and substance abuse treatment groups, provide ongoing support and crisis intervention
  • Assist in detox and with transportation as needed.
  • Assist participants to achieve a developed recovery program, integrate back into the community with employment and permanent housing, and increase self-autonomy and self-reliance.  To enjoy life on life's terms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • One year working with social model recovery program and/or experience working with a therapeutic community.
  • High school diploma and/or certification.
  • Drug and Alcohol Certification preferred.
  • Able to read and write proficiently.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Knowledge through working with and/or being in 12-step therapy.

New Directions is a well established long-term, residential care, substance abuse, and mental health organization. Founded in 1992, the agency offers a comprehensive set of services for homeless male and female veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
