Which Direction?

Which Direction?CRE Outreach and New Directions presented an original drama created and performed by Veterans from New Directions.  Asher, a young aspiring writer, turns to the military to escape from his broken family upbringing. Arriving in Iraq and overwhelmed by the heat of battle, he loses his nerve, leading to the deaths and injuries of some of his fellow soldiers. Seeking retribution some of the others in his platoon choose to teach him a lesson, forcing him back towards drugs and alcohol. Will Asher find himself and realize his dreams before it’s too late?

Special Thanks to the Seamon Corporation!

On January 22, 2011 Seamon Corporation designated

New Directions, Inc. as the sole beneficiary for their

5th Annual Celebration of Giving. The event proceeds

raised $12,500 which was donated to New Directions

to support our efforts in serving veterans.

The evening program included dinner, dancing and raffles

of big-ticket prizes, including iPads, Apple MacBook Pro

computers, Xbox 360 game consoles and roundtrip airline

tickets anywhere in the US, generously donated by businesses

within the community.  The 200 guests in attendance even

got a taste, via multimedia presentation, of the award

winning New Directions Choir and a profile of Choir Director

George Hill.

The highlight of the evening came in the form of a very intimate

and moving speech from Bill Shean, a current Board member of

New Directions and alumnus of the program.  Bill is an

honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran who served in

the Vietnam War.

NDI thanks Seamon Corporation for recognizing our veterans
