Allan Alexander, Member, former Beverly Hills City Council member, former Mayor, and attorney, offers legal expertise and knowledge of local government to New Directions.


Rachel Davenport, Vice Chair, Principal of Horizon Advisers, LLC, is an investment adviser with extensive financial and analytical skills and serves on New Directions’ Women’s Advisory and Personnel committees.

Jackie Freedman,, Member, Civic Leader, Elementary School Teacher, retired City Planner with Culver City, California, brings her expertise in local government to New Directions’ board.

Gordon Gibson, Member, Owner & President, Gibson Construction, has been a general contractor since 1966 and has specialized in building custom homes in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu and Brentwood since 1970.

Rudy Grimaldo , Member, Director of Operations for Sovereign Healthcare.  Served as U.S. Army Captain in Afghanistan and received an MBA from USC's Marshall School of Business. He brings a broad business background to New Directions. 

Ted Howells, Secretary, Chief Financial Officer of Beacon Pictures, former CFO of Sony Pictures Entertainment and a Vietnam infantry officer, serves as Treasurer of the Golf Committee and assists New Directions on financial matters.

Chuck Kahn, Treasurer, retired founding partner of Berger Kahn, a 64-member law firm.  After retiring, he became a psychology intern specializing in homeless and addicted persons.  Presently he serves as a part-time procedures analyst for Douglas Emmett & Company, a property ownership and management company.  Chuck brings a variety of legal, investment and psychological experience to the board.


John Keaveney, Member, New Directions’ Chief Operating Officer, served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat infantryman. He co-founded New Directions in order to continue helping other homeless veterans when the VA treatment program (also called New Directions) which helped him get sober, closed in 1988 due to budget cuts.

Scott Sale, M.D., Chair, internist and allergist with a private practice in West Los Angeles, he volunteers his time at several agencies throughout the community.  He has served on the Board of Directors since 2003, and currently chairs the Governance Committee for the Board.

William "Trip" Thomas, Member, Client Executive at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., the third-largest property/casualty insurance brokerage worldwide.  He brings his insurance and risk management expertise to the Board of Directors, and acts as liaison and advisor to SpringBoard, the young professionals group that raises money and awareness for New Directions.
