"I am always on the hunt for a value. How about this one for you? $4.50 gets you an entree, veggies, a side and a 16 oz. fountain beverage. It's the Veterans Village Diner on the north side of the VA campus between Westwood and Brentwood.
This Diner is a nonprofit venture of New Directions - a program to give direction and training to formerly homeless vets. Wow! Have they done a great job!
Friday is BBQ day! The grills with a bit of patina on them are out on the patio for all of the guests to see. There is BBQ beef ribs, hotlinks, chicken and St. Louis-style pork ribs that you can truly sink your teeth into. All of the sides are absolutely delicious and prepared right there!
Go on over and take a look also at their vintage memorabelia from World War II. This is a place that runs with the heart and soul of our vets.
Access to the Veterans Village Diner is from Federal Avenue. Just follow the signs to Building 306."
