He believes that NDI’s program is successful because of its holistic approach, where the entire person is treated rather than simply the addiction itself.

Chris’s Place is a transitional, treatment-based house specifically for veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF).

Named in honor of Christopher Scott Russell, a decorated veteran who began a substance abuse program for combat soldiers in Vietnam, Chris’s Place supports sober living and the 12-step recovery model.

Many veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have difficulties transitioning back to civilian life.  Chris’s Place provides a safe and positive living environment for men who need support and wish to live without the use of alcohol or other drugs. The house is staffed 24-hours a day by professionals who provide individual and group therapy, case management and vocational assistance.  Each veteran follows a plan of action that ensures sobriety and a successful return to civilian society.  Residents also participate in classes dealing with anger management, relapse prevention, interpersonal relationships, and other issues affecting returning veterans.
