Veterans Village Diner on the air with Mario Martinoli
Thursday, February 23, 2006

"I am always on the hunt for a value. How about this one for you? $4.50 gets you not only the entree, but veggies, a side and a 16 oz. fountain beverage. It's at the Veterans Village Diner on the north side of the VA campus between Westwood and Brentwood.

This Diner is a nonprofit venture of New Directions - a program to give direction and training to formerly homeless vets.

Wow! Have they done a great job!

Friday is BBQ day. The grills with a bit of pantina on them are out on the patio for all of the guests to see. There is BBQ beef, hotlinks, chicken and ribs that you can really sink your teeth into. All the sides are absolutely delicious and prepared right there.

Go on over and take a look also at their vintage memorabelia from World War II. This is a place that is run with the heart and soul of our vets.

Access to the Veterans Village Diner is from Federal Avenue. Just follow the signs to Building 306."
